About Me

My Philosophy

img_3167.jpg The Islamic philosopher Rumi said that we should “Let the Beauty we love be what we do.” For this and many other reasons I photograph that which is truly beautiful. I feel that beauty is all around us but is most striking in the individual.

I believe that we all deserve to know how lovely we really are. For example, I have a niece who I believe is very beautiful but she is the youngest one in her class at school and also the tallest. Being taller and younger than the other children has led her to doubt the way she looks and makes her self-conscious about her age and especially what she sees in the mirror. Six months ago I did a photo-shoot for my sister and her family, including this niece. I got a call from my sister a few weeks later thanking me profusely for the job I had done. She said that when her daughter had seen the pictures of herself she said, “Mom, I really am beautiful”. To me, that was the greatest compliment.

My goal as an artist is for everyone to walk away feeling better about themselves. I see in our society a need for more positive self-visualization. I want my photography to help others see the magnificence in themselves that is already there.

Particulars

I live in St. George Utah with my husband Donn, my two beautiful daughters Mandy and McKenzie, and my handsome son Donn Richard. I love spending time with my family and watching my kids become more curious every day. I enjoy being outdoors in the summer when it’s warm and indoors under a nice blanket in the winter when it’s cold. And, of course, I love taking pictures.
